Thomas’s College opened in September 2025. Our first GCSE results were received in August 2026 and our first set of A Level results will be available in August 2027.
Inaugural GCSE Results at Thomas’s College
The first ever generation of Thomas’s College students celebrate their GCSE results.
As a cohort they have achieved outstanding outcomes, with well over half of all grades at 9-7 (A* and A) and over a third of all grades in the A* (9-8) category. Their GCSE journey began at our previous senior school Thomas’s Putney Vale, where they completed Years 9 and 10, before joining Thomas’s College as our first Lower Sixth (Year 11). They embraced the transition with enthusiasm, and throughout their first year at the College have shown commitment and dedication. They are now looking forward to a diverse, creative and rigorous set of subjects and ambitions for A Level study and beyond.
There are many stories to celebrate. Lucas achieved a remarkable average point score of 8.9, with seven Grade 9s, and is going on to study Maths, Economics, Spanish and Geography. Niamh’s five Grade 9s support her continued study of Spanish, Psychology, Philosophy and Politics. Sam takes an average point score of 8.3 into his A Levels of Maths, Computer Science and Economics. Sujood’s grades, all at 7-9, lead her to Art, English Literature, Biology and Chemistry, while Anfisa takes her 8 and 9 in Maths and Art onto A Level study alongside Economics next year. The range of choice, from the 26 subjects we support, and the variety of intended future pathways among this cohort is wonderful and shows their success in finding the path that is right for them.
More than anything, however, we celebrate every student’s achievement in terms of their own personal best. It was not uncommon to see students achieving grades that were two, three or even four levels higher than their previously expected scores, thanks to inspirational teaching, 1:1 support and their own sense of purpose and sheer hard work. We were particularly delighted by the outstanding successes achieved by bursary students, including Ukrainian students supported by Thomas’s since the start of the conflict, whose remarkable outcomes are a testament to their determination to overcome challenges and build the futures they deserve. And we were thrilled by how well our Wesley House boarders did – thanks in part to the brilliant team ensuring the right mix of fun and focus in this crucial examination year. Vasi, for example, secured six Grade 8s and goes on to study Politics, English Literature, Spanish and Geography next year.
Our passion at Thomas’s is to support each individual to achieve to the utmost of their ability while developing the character, confidence and adaptability to succeed in the real world. Numbers and grades help open doors to future opportunity: but self-knowledge, inner strength and intellectual curiosity enable our students to make the most of all they go on to experience.
We’re hugely grateful for the tireless efforts of staff, not just during school terms but in running dedicated revision sessions across February half-term and Easter – their personal care and investment in the success of students have been inspiring. And we’re just so proud of everything our first ever group of Lower Sixths (Year 11s) have achieved. Along with the Middle Sixths (Year 12s) above them, they’ve been role models for the community and pioneers as we build a new way in London independent education: one that blends radical innovation and traditional excellence to help develop students who are ready for the changing world that awaits them. They’ve done brilliantly in their exams – but what matters most is that they are wonderful young people developing into adults ready to shape the future and contribute to society.

Prior to the opening of the College, Thomas’s Putney Vale offered secondary education in a small-school setting for Years 9 to 11.
- 50% of all grades were Grade 9-7 (equivalent to A/A*).
- 20% of all grades were at Grade 9.
- 40% of all grades were Grade 9 or 8 (equivalent to A*).
- 74% of all grades were Grade 9-7 (equivalent to A/A*).
- 24% of all grades were at Grade 9 and over.
- 25% of students achieved exclusively Grades 9-7 (equivalent to A/A*).
